We are currently seeking a talented and dedicated Temporary Commis Chef to join our team for a short-term assignment. Position Overview:
As a Temporary Commis Chef at Beefeater The Acorn, you will play a crucial role in assisting our kitchen team during a busy period. You will work under the guidance of our experienced chefs to prepare and cook a range of dishes to the highest standards.


Assist in food preparation and cooking according to the menu and Beefeater’s quality standards.
Maintain a clean and organized workstation, following all food safety and hygiene guidelines.
Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure efficient service and timely delivery of dishes.
Adhere to recipes, portion sizes, and presentation standards.
Maintain inventory and report any shortages to the Head Chef.
Follow proper knife safety procedures and ensure knives are safely stored in a knife roll or case.

Previous experience as a Commis Chef or similar role is a plus.
Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
Excellent knife skills and the ability to handle sharp knives safely.
Attention to detail and a passion for cooking.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
Uniform and Equipment:
Candidates for this position are required to wear the following attire:

White chef jacket.
Black trousers.
Steel toe safety shoes.
Chef hat/skull cap.
Butchers apron.
Candidates are also expected to bring their sharp knives safely wrapped in a knife roll/case (do not wrap in a cloth).


Food Safety Certificate Level 1: All candidates must hold a valid Food Safety Certificate Level 1 to ensure a strong understanding of basic food safety principles.

Restaurant Experience: Previous experience working in a restaurant setting is highly desirable. Familiarity with kitchen operations, service standards, and customer interactions is a plus.

Legal Compliance: Knowledge of and adherence to local health and safety regulations, including food safety guidelines, is essential to maintain a safe and compliant kitchen environment.

Food Safety Certificate Level 2: A Food Safety Certificate Level 2 is preferred and demonstrates a deeper understanding of food safety practices and protocols.

Food Allergens Certificate: A certificate in food allergens is required to ensure awareness and proper handling of food allergens, which is crucial for guest safety.
