Maintenance/ Engineering Manager

MAINTENANCE / ENGINEERING MANAGER

Our clients are the leading manufacturer and supplier of recyclable pulp packaging products and are continuously looking to grow and develop our sites in the UK, France, and Germany.

The UK site, based on Flixborough Industrial Estate in Scunthorpe is currently looking to recruit an Engineering Manager to support the development of the Engineering Team who are responsible for the maintenance and repair of all site machinery.

The Engineering Manager needs to ensure the Engineering team are performing to optimum efficiency providing maximum equipment availability whilst ensuring safe working practices are followed, high standards of maintenance and repair are achieved, and breakdowns are responded to promptly.

Main role and responsibilities:

*Coordination of breakdowns and planned shutdowns
*Take ownership of, then maintain monitoring, Inspection, permit to work and service records/requirements ensuring adherence and compliance
*Scheduling PPM and ensuring the plan is followed, recording all corrective actions
*Ensure stock levels of critical spares and spare parts are maintained to the appropriate level
*Driving line optimism, identifying, planning and executing engineering solutions
*Implement continuous improvement processes
*Liaising with senior leadership, ensuring effective and timely communication
*Plan and monitor contractors
*Managing a small team of engineers, including competencies, performance, timekeeping, absence, holidays etc.
*Supervise the effective use of labour resources within the department
*Ensuring all SOP’s, safe working practices, Health and Safety and Environmental instruction are adhered to by all members of the team and corrective action taken if needed
*Developing the team, encouraging, and supporting training needs
*Lead and participate in capital expenditure projects

Required skills:

*Minimum 3 years management experience
*Relevant engineer qualification to HNC/HND level
*Experience in planned preventative and reactive maintenance regimes for heavy duty machinery
*Positive team player who promotes an inclusive culture
*Working knowledge of IT systems and software such as office suite, 3d drawing software
*Experience of record keeping

Desired skills:

*Experience of PLC programming
*Experience of implementing and managing digital work systems
*Recognised Health and Safety qualifications such as IOSH, NEBOSH
*Six sigma, 5S or CI experience
*Worked in accordance with BRCGS, ISO9001, ISO14001, & IS050001

Hours of work:
Monday to Friday day shift, with support to team in exceptional circumstances.

Salary:
£40 – £45k
